Watkins Glen, New York. Porsche Penske Motorsport scored its third victory of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship today at Watkins Glen International. The No. 7 factory Porsche 963 with drivers Dane Cameron (Huntersville, North Carolina) and Felipe Nasr (Brazil) fought everchanging weather conditions along with the 54-car field and the fast circuit in Watkins Glen, New York to score their second overall victory of the season – the first coming at the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. The victory helps secure the leading position among the GTP Driver standings while adding to the lead for Team and Manufacturer ranks as well. The sister car, the No. 6 Porsche 963 driven by Mathieu Jaminet (France) and Nick Tandy (United Kingdom), chased their teammates throughout the day and after a dramatic late race push swept into third place in the closing minutes to secure the second podium position for the German sports car manufacturer.
AO Racing finished in fifth place in the GTD Pro class as Laurin Heinrich (Germany) and Seb Priaulx (United Kingdom) raced the No. 77 “Rexy” to the highest overall finish for a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
