Premier Racing Primed Entering Monterey Porsche Carrera Cup Round

Monterey, California | April 27, 2022 | Premier Racing’s top-ten performance at the most recent round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands has the Las Vegas, Nevada-based race team primed for Rounds 5 and 6 this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The impressive progress of the No. 24 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car with Adam Adelson (Las Vegas, Nevada now living in Los Angeles) behind the wheel has the Kent Moore-led program primed for more as they come to one of its favorite tracks. Premier Racing has earned multiple podium finishes in other Porsche-based race series at the facility laid out in the hills of California’s Monterey Peninsula. The two, 40-minute Porsche Carrera Cup North America races are part of the Monterey Sports Car Championships, April 29 – May 1.

Two weeks ago, Adelson piloted the No. 24 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car on the city street course in Long Beach, California to a ninth-place Pro class finish. The performance gave the Las Vegas-native his best finish to-date in the young season of the one-make Porsche series. The successful weekend of Carrera Cup competition moved the operation into tenth-place of all team entrants with 26 points. This puts the one-car program only one point out of ninth-place against the most experienced Porsche race teams in the country.

Official practice on the 2.238-mile, 11-turn race track begins with the first practice of the Carrera Cup at 8:30 a.m. – 9:10 a.m. PT (11:30 a.m. ET) on Friday, April 29. Practice 2 will start at 12:25 p.m. PT (3:25 p.m. ET). The standard qualifying session of 30-minutes for all cars will start at 3:40 p.m. PT to close day one on track. Race 1 of the weekend will take place on Saturday, April 30 with a green flag starting the clock of the 40-minute event at 11:50 a.m. PT (2:50 p.m. ET). Race 2 will start at 8:40 a.m. PT (11:40 a.m. ET), immediately following IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship warm-up.

Live timing and scoring of all sessions as well as streaming of both races can be found at www.PorscheCarreraCup.us . The races also air live on the Peacock Streaming App.

“I'm feeling great going into Laguna Seca, especially with all of the great results we've gotten up to this point in the season in both Carrera Cup and other series as well. We've already faced a lot of adversity this year, but Premier continues to push through with high morale, which gives me that extra bit of motivation. Even though we're fresh off of a top-ten finish, it's important to realize that if we want to do it again, we're all going to have to be at the top of our game. The competition in Carrera Cup is the toughest I've ever seen and attempting to challenge the front runners is no easy task, but I believe if we keep on the trajectory we've been on since the start of the season, we can put the car back in the top-ten. Laguna Seca has been kind to us over the years, as we've had several podiums and wins here. However, it's important to stay humble. Carrera Cup North America is filled with some of the best Porsche drivers and teams in the world."

Kent Moore, No. 24 Premier Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup |
“We came into Carrera Cup knowing we would face some of the best Porsche teams in the industry. We are here to be challenged and to learn. When Adam came to me and said what he wanted to do, we laid it all out there. I told him we would take the hardest route to meet his goals because that is how you become the best. To have broken into the top-ten in only our second weekend is pretty gratifying. It is ahead of schedule, but we aren’t naive about it. We know to stay humble. Highs can turn into lows real fast. Laguna Seca is a tough track and 40-minutes of all-out racing here with a track this hard on tires will be a real challenge. But Adam has had a lot of success here, so we feel good about it. Our goal this weekend is to come out and keep our eye on the details, no mistakes. If we do that, I know we can gain a few more positions.”
