SP Tools Joins Premier Porsche One-Make Series with Team Award and More

Alabama Supplier Becomes Official Tool of Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands

Carson, California. In its inaugural season, Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands continues to grow in popularity and prestige. Beginning with the next round of the 16-race championship, the premier Porsche one-make race series in the United States and Canada will enter into a technical and marketing partnership with SP Tools USA. The relationship will include a special award focused on the mechanics and technicians of the sport: The SP Tools Mechanic Team of the Year Award. The season-end award recognizes the men and women whose skills keep the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars on track. Unlike other year-long awards which celebrate a single technician, The SP Tools Mechanic Team of the Year Award, will recognize the full-team effort required to provide a championship-caliber program in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands.

The Porsche Motorsport partnership will provide the Robertsdale, Alabama-based distributor the platform to display its premium line of air, power and hand tools in front of the fast-growing and product savvy Porsche consumer. The first on-site presence for SP Tools USA will come at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Porsche SportsCar Together Festival, September 10 – 12, for rounds 9, 10 and 11 of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands where they will have not only branding on the 25-plus car field of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars but also an in-paddock display of its product line.

The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands will be held August 5 – 8 at Road America for Rounds 7 and 8.

Dr. Daniel Armbruster, President and CEO, Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands.
“Motorsport requires teamwork and our new relationship with SP Tools USA focuses on the skilled women and men in the paddock that allow the drivers to put on the exciting show we get to enjoy. The SP Tools Mechanic Team of the Year Award will recognize that it takes a team to win in a one-make championship, particularly one so fiercely fought as the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands. That is one of many exciting highlights of this partnership with SP Tools. We welcome SP into our family joining our current partners as we grow the championship.”

Lee Locklear, CEO, Cutting Edge Automotive Solutions, Parent Company of SP Tools USA.
As a Porsche enthusiast, I am excited to partner with PMNA and sponsor the Mechanic Team of the Year award. Porsche, in my opinion, represents the best IMSA racing has to offer. We see many similarities in Porsche's commitment to racing excellence and our mission statement – ‘Manufactured For The Professional’. Sponsoring the Mechanic Team of The Year award is a tremendous honor for us and our opportunity to recognize the unsung heroes of the track, the mechanics. Even the fastest driver cannot win without a good mechanic, and we will recognize the best of the best this year."
