Can Bryan Sellers Take Back-To-Back CTSCC Wins at Two Iconic Tracks?

&car; Magic Eight Ball Predicts: “Reply Hazy” for American to Repeat In Consecutive Races &car;

&car; INDIANAPOLIS, July 24, 2013 – “Will Bryan Sellers follow his first career GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) win at historic Watkins Glen International with another this week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS)?” Shake the Magic Eight Ball, concentrate hard and the response will likely be “Reply Hazy Try Again”.&car;

&car; Back-to-back victories in CTSCC are difficult enough, doing it at two of the sport’s most iconic tracks seems unfathomable. Look at it from one perspective and the Braselton, Ga.-resident is on a surge of momentum that would suggest he will be hoisting the Brickyard Sports Car Challenge trophy in victory lane at the world’s most famous racetrack on July 26. Flip that viewpoint and you see how hard it is to win in the 56-car field of road-based race cars. Any way you cut it, Sellers and co-driver Mark Boden (Winnetka, Ill.) will face one of the biggest challenges of their time as teammates in the No. 46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/BCKSTGR Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3. &car;

&car; &car;

&car; The native of Centerville, Ohio took a dramatic and popular victory at “The Glen” on June 29. It was the culmination of two seasons of near misses by Sellers and Boden. Since Sellers joined the team in 2012, the program has gotten so close before that they have remained a perennial favorite in the highly competitive series. Even rolling the calendar back one year to the inaugural Brickyard Sports Car Challenge last July, the team fought to the front, fell to the back due to a penalty and had slashed its way back to sixth when a late-race cloud burst ended Sellers’ shot at a podium on the 2.534-mile, 13-turn road course in Speedway, Ind. Rain set Sellers up for a sensational last lap pass to win at Watkins Glen, the most recent CTSCC event, but no team has one consecutive GS class races in 2013. In fact, only one team has even one more than once in the first six races of the season. The burden will be on the No. 46 Fall-Line effort to set a new success mark for themselves and the GRAND-AM sanctioned series in the two-hour and 30-minute two-class (GS and ST) race. &car;

&car; For its second appearance at The Brickyard, GRAND-AM will be a two-day show rather than a single-day event as it was in 2012. Practice will get underway on Thursday, July 25 at 9 a.m. Eastern Time for CTSCC. A second practice will take the green flag at 1:10 p.m. with the 15-minute GS class qualifying session at 3:45 p.m. The race will run on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., July 26 following an 11:30 a.m. autograph session in the IMS infield. Timing and scoring for all sessions can be found at www.GRAND-AM.com . &car;

&car; &car;

&car; Live web coverage of the Brickyard Sports Car Challenge can be seen on www.SPEED2.com , where available, beginning at 2 p.m. The race will air on SPEED, Saturday, August 3 at 4 p.m. ET. The Motor Racing Network will provide radio coverage on www.GRAND-AM.com and www.MotorRacingNetwork.com . Twitter users can follow by using #BrickyardGP. &car;

&car; Quotes &car;

&car; Bryan Sellers: &car;

&car; On the Brickyard Sports Car Challenge: “We were strong at Indy last year and are coming off a great Watkins Glen race so I would say that anything is possible. We are not in the points chase at this point in time so our only goal for the Trim-Tex BMW is to win races. That puts us in a position to take strategy risks that not many others are able to do. &car;

&car; &car;

&car; This is not an easy track to pass on but I was able to figure out how to navigate traffic efficiently last year. I think that will help pay benefits this year. I think we have a chance to win!”&car;

&car; &car;

&car; On what racing, and the idea of winning, at Indianapolis means: “Every win means something special regardless of the racetrack. However, I am lying if I tell you that Indy means exactly the same thing as all other races. It is special! Indianapolis will always be one of the greatest racing spectacles no matter what race you’re running here and to win would be a great accomplishment!&car;

&car; &car;

&car; Running here last year ranked very high on my list. It is extremely important to win in Indy. I think it is one victory that everyone wants to be able to put on their resume! I can promise you, I am no exception.”&car;

&car; &car;

&car; On the hardest turn at Indianapolis: “The hardest section at Indy is [road course] Turn 1. The problem is it is very difficult visually to see where you are going and to be able to place the car in the appropriate place. It takes a couple of laps to get the feel but then it is okay.”&car;

&car; &car;

&car; On the new two-day format: “I feel like the event carries more weight by being two days rather than doing it all in a day like we did last year. I also feel like the increase in days means what we did last year was taken seriously and that people like what they saw which is what really matters.”&car;

&car; &car;

&car; On what breaking into the winner’s column in CTSCC means to future potential: “I’m not sure I put much stock in the belief that once you win the next one comes a lot easier. I do believe that sometimes you have to get the monkey off your back. They say the first one is the hardest win to get and, after all the effort and all the close ones we’ve had with the Trim-Tex/Fall-Line effort, that I do agree with!”&car;
