
Tafel Racing to Forgo 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans Invitation
CUMMING, Ga., April 11, 2008 – Tafel Racing announced today that the team will forgo its invitation to compete in the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans. Tafel Racing remains dedicated to winning the American Le Mans Series GT2 Team, Driver and IMSA Cup Championships with drivers Dominik Farnbacher (Ansbach, Germany) and Dirk Müller (a native of Germany now living in Monaco).
With its maiden American Le Mans Series victory coming last Saturday in the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (Fla.), the No. 71 Tafel/Bell Micro Racing Ferrari F430 GTC became a leading contender to win the three GT2 class titles in America’s premier form of sports car racing. The victory moved the two German drivers into the lead for the GT2 Driver Championship with nine races remaining. The decisive and convincing win also moved the team into the lead of the IMSA Cup- awarded to the highest finishing privateer entrant. The second year GT2 team currently sits second in the Team Championship.
Tafel Racing will contest the next round of the 11 race American Le Mans Series season in Long Beach, California on April 19. The 100-minute Grand Prix of Long Beach will be shown on ABC Sports on Sunday, April 20 at 3:30 PM (ET).
